St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Church

In 1971 Yurii Kodak was contracted to design the iconostas for St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Montreal. The work was completed over a period of nine months. The iconostas for St. Mary the Protectress was consecrated on June 4, 1972. The presiding officials of the congregation at the time were Rev. Father Gregory Filj, President of the Parish, A. Kanareysky; Vice-President, I. Perederyj; and Secretary, S. Starenkyj.
Yurii Kodak designed and directed the building of the iconostas; carved the Royal Gates; and provided the ornamentation for the four-tier structure. He also, painted the two large icons, The Resurrection and The Nativity, displayed in the two prayer corners.
